Fall For Color

Decadent Master BedroomBold Bedrooms! by Dominic Serna September 2013
As Summer comes to a close and fall quickly approaches, we all think about spending more time inside our homes.  Fall is a great time of year to cozy up in our homes, the days are shorter, there is a crispness to the air, and we seek a sense of warmth inside our homes.  This bedroom really captures that sense of warmth.  The dark walls create a jewelry box like effect that makes this room so warm and cozy.  Add to that the generous use of a lustrous silk for a bed canopy and curtains and there is an instant sense of warmth.  It is easy to see that this room would be a great place to cozy up in the cooler weather.  If your home lacks warmth and you need some help pulling things together, call Dominic today!

Charming Child’s Room

Fabulous Child's RoomTribal Twist! by Dominic Serna July 2013

This lovely room is quite a departure from our usual style, however we think it looks fantastic!  Our clients asked us to create a unisex child’s room using bright and happy colors.  What child wouldn’t love this room?  Our inspiration was the Ikat printed fabric, we loved the modern yet tribal pattern and the colors worked perfectly with our color scheme.  The dresser was an antique which we had painted a vibrant lime green, and the chevron striped rug was hand woven in India.  Lastly, we used all white bed linens and curtains to give a crispness to the room and break up all the pattern.  If you have a Design Dilemma, call Dominic today!

Delightful Draperies

Custom DraperiesDelightful Draperies! by Dominic Serna May 2013
Before we installed draperies this Oxbow breakfast nook lacked warmth, and while the furnishings were beautiful pieces, the room lacked a completed look.  By adding these simple pinch pleated drapery panels in a beautiful soft pattern, this room has taken on a completely different look.  The draperies add a softness to the room that make it feel much more inviting.  We also used beautiful hand forged decorative iron drapery hardware with large over-sized finials which are the crowning element in this nook.  Notice that the panels were hung at the edge of each window, they frame the windows so nicely while still allowing light to bathe this room.  If you need help putting the finishing touches on a room in your home, contact Dominic today!

Kitchen Trends

Kitchen Remodel by ArteriorsSoft and Light!  by Dominic Serna March 2013

It seems that kitchen trends are always changing, this year we have noticed a huge shift in kitchen design trends.  This kitchen that we recently remodeled really sums up the new trends.  We have noticed a trend toward lighter wood tones, and a mix of stained and painted woods being used in the same space.  In this charming kitchen we chose a grayish tone wood stain for the wall of cabinets, and we used a distressed painted creme colored finish on the island.  We also had furniture style legs applied to the island to give it the look of a found piece of furniture rather than more plain old cabinetry.  We also are beginning to see more marble counters than granite.  The marble counters in this kitchen are a soft creme color, and they give the kitchen a much softer look than a busy granite.  Marble counters are a great alternative to granite, and with time they take on a European Country look when they begin to patina.  Overall, kitchens have become more relaxed, this is reflected in a lighter color palette, and the use of softer looking materials.  If your kitchen is in need of some refreshing, Call Dominic today!

“The Africa Room”

Arteriors Interior DesignThis was one of the most unique projects that has come our way here at Arteriors!  Our client was stationed in the African province of Burundi when he met and fell in love with his beautiful wife.  When they returned to New Mexico, he wanted to create a space in their new home for her that reflected her cultural heritage.  He decided to call it “The Africa Room” and his vision for the space took inspiration from the African jungle.  He said “I want the room to look like you need a malaria shot to enter it, it should be full of foliage native to Burundi”  We obliged!  The end result is a wonderful space great for relaxation, full of plants and objects similar to those found in Burundi where the couple met, fell in love, and were married.  We painted the walls with a suede paint reminiscent of the mud huts in Africa, then we filled the room with wonderful live plants native to Africa, finally we furnished it with a combination of formal British campaign style furniture and more casual rustic furnishings that look like they could have been made in the provinces of Africa.  The end result is spectacular, and our clients were very pleased to have such a special space in their home that reflects both of their love for Burundi!

Be Thankful! by Dominic Serna November 2012

As the holidays quickly approach, we thought it would be a great time to show you how to set a holiday table.  There are three things all holiday tables should have.  The first is candlelight, the second is fresh flowers, and the third is good company.  Candlelight instantly sets an elegant tone to any dining room,  it creates a soft warm glow and a gentle flicker, and everyone looks better in candlelight.  Fresh flowers lend a sense of occasion to a dining room table and fill the air with a nice aroma.  And of course the most important addition is your guests!  We are very thankful for your continued support of Arteriors throughout the year, Happy Thanksgiving!

Provincial Style! by Dominic Serna October 2012

This lovely sitting room is directly off of a grand scale master bedroom.  Our clients wanted something that was beautiful, luxurious and grand while still being soft and comfortable.  They are huge admirers of French Provincial style, and wanted this sitting room to reflect their love of the French Countryside.  We chose a beautiful blush tone for the luxe draperies, and continued with a darker shade of the same color for the velvet upholstery.  The round aubusson carpet was imported from France just for this space.  This cozy little sitting room has become one of our clients’ favorite spaces in the entire home.  If you want your space to reflect your global sensibilities, call Dominic today!

The Red Room, Furniture consignments & closeouts.

The Red Room, an Arteriors original concept, was born as we noticed the growing need for our clients to re sell their gently used estate furniture. For years we have had many clients with beautiful furnishings who move to a new home, or are downsizing, and no longer have a need for some of their pieces. Many times, the pieces were custom ordered from our store or other fine furniture stores specifically for their homes, and they are no longer needed, or they are ready to spruce up their current home with new pieces. The Red Room was created as a way for our clients to re-sell their fine pieces, and a way for other clients to pick up a very nice piece for a reduced price. As the Red Room began to take off, our vendors began to approach us with one of a kind closeouts and deeply discounted discontinued merchandise for us to liquidate. If you have any pieces that you would like to consign, please contact us and we will walk you through the process.
